Thermochem designed and commissioned the first HCl corrosion mitigation systems at The Geysers (Aidlin project), 1989 – 1990, with on-going support and continued research to present.
Thermochem developed vapor-phase tracers with other DOE researchers for use at The Geysers (and other steam-dominated fields), 1990 – 1995, with on-going projects and continued research to present.
Thermochem developed a vapor-phase downhole sampling tool (DHS) with Sandia National Labs for use at The Geysers (and other steam-dominated fields). 1995 - 1999, with continued use and research to present.
Thermochem designed, built and operated a Pilot Test Unit to evaluate the effects of injecting treated hyper-saline brine from a Zinc-extraction process. 2011 – 2013.
Thermochem helped design the original Ormat power plant to minimize scale and control H2S emissions, 1988 – 1990.
Thermochem conducted numerous well flow tests with chemical H2S abatement and has performed regular TFT® and geochemical surveys, 1990 – present, including monitoring of magmatic gas intrusions to the reservoir during recent volcanic activity around the plan.
Thermochem designed, built and operated a Pilot Test Unit to evaluate the effects of sub-cooling the brine in a bottoming cycle, 2003 – 2011.
Thermochem helped design the Ormat bottoming plant, supplied the complete pH-modification system, assisted in commissioning, 2008 – 2011 with continued support to present.
Thermochem has performed regular TFT®, reservoir tracer and geochemical surveys at Ormat’s Olkaria project, 2000 – present.
Thermochem conducted Power Plant Performance tests for steam purity and quality at the KenGen’s Olkaria plants, 2014 – 2015.
Thermochem sold an entire TFT® system to KenGen and provided training so they can conduct their own enthalpy and mass flow surveys, 2017
Thermochem lead the investigation into the severe scaling and corrosion problems related to pH-modification at the Kawerau and Nga Awa Purua (NAP) plants after start-up. Thermochem provided detailed retro‐fit designs to correct the problems. The retrofits have been installed and both plants are no longer experiencing corrosion and silica scaling problems, 2010 – 2011.
Thermochem conducted the Power Plant Performance tests for steam purity, quality and steam wash optimization, including a detailed process evaluation, for Contact Energy at the Te Mihi plant, 2015.
Thermochem has supplied several generations of TFT® equipment and training to Reykjavik Energy for mass flowrate and enthalpy monitoring of all production wells, even under extreme winter-time weather conditions, 2000 – present.
Thermochem (TCI) performed the well test chemistry and initial silica scale inhibition testing at Silangkitang (SIL) for Unocal, 1995.
TCI supplied the mufflers (LECM) and PTS tools, and performed all the well testing services at the Sarulla project (32 wells) for SOL, 2014 – present.
TCI built and operated a Pilot Test Unit to evaluate NCG injection for pH-modification at SIL and Namora-I-Langit (NIL) plants, 2015 – present.
TCI redesigned and provided new equipment to retrofit the pH-modification systems at SIL and NIL plants, after problems caused by EPC contractor design discovered on commissioning, 2016 – present.
TCI designed and supplied multi-nozzle isokinetic probes and on-line steam analyzers for steam purity measurement at SIL and NIL plants, 2016 – present.
TCI completed an acid-brine downhole corrosion mitigation pilot test, and moved to full commercial operations of same process on 5 production wells – present.
Thermochem led a multidisciplinary geoscience and engineering team to produce a comprehensive model of the Ulubelu reservoir for Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), including a numerical simulation model and geochemical simulations to evaluate the feasibility and potential impacts of adding bottoming cycles to the 4 single-flash power plants (100 MW additional generation potential).
Thermochem conducted the Power Plant Performance tests for steam purity, quality and steam wash optimization at the Zorlu Kizildere and Alasehir plants, including detailed process evaluations, and supply of permanent multi-nozzle isokinetic probes, 2014 – present.
Thermochem has supplied many generations of TFT® equipment and training to Chevron Philippines operations for mass flow rate and enthalpy monitoring of all production wells, 1993 – present.
